We truly believe that we are placed in a privileged position personally and in our business, and our philosophy has always been to pay it forward into the community, whether it is supporting fund raisers or charities. On Friday evening, 8 December, UAINE Candles held a fund raising night for We Care Connect. This is one of a small number of key charities that we want to get behind and we encourage our customers to do the same too. We Care Connect looks after under-privileged children's needs for the essentials of life in the Hunter Vally and Central Coast...and that need is growing. Our lovely customers got right behind the night. It was a ticketed event and the money from the tickets and donations is going straight to We Care Connect.
We tried to make the event a win-win for both We Care Connect and our customers. The $10 entry fee gave access to our Candle Cellar Door along with finger-food and bubbly beverages. It also gave each customer a 20% discount store-wide for the four hours (even more for those who were UAINE Clan members). This meant, for instance, that buying just one reed diffuser covered the ticket/donation cost.
For the first time we used our brand new Candle Experience Room following a significant refurbishment. This is additional to our Candle Cellar Door and into the future it will enable us to hold special functions that can be booked. We will be telling you a lot more about this in January.
In addition to thanking our customers who came to our event I must also mention our customers from around Australia who chose to donate their ticket cost (plus more) from as far afield as Western Australia. Thank you. As a thank you to our distant friends they too received reduced prices online for the four hours of the event.
And thank you to our UAINE Candles Team who provided live music (Alex), serving food and drink and did the gift wrapping (Melissa) and working in the Candle Cellar Door (Emily and Helena), leaving Suzanne and me to enjoy the evening in a convivial environment and to actually talk to our loveely customers. And a specially big thank you to Emily who organised the evening and event managed it.
