Our Story

Our Gaelic name UAINE (‘oonyah’) means green, lush and verdant, reflecting both our Hunter Valley heritage and our deep respect for our environment. Overlooking the Hunter River, just steps from Morpeth’s original 1850s candle factory, we continue the tradition of quality craftsmanship in one of Australia’s most beautiful rural regions.

We keep things uncomplicated — from our 100% pure soy wax, to our natural fragrance oils, to our clean-burning, vegan-friendly formulations. Our wax contains no paraffin, palm wax, petroleum, animal products, parabens, or synthetic additives, and our fragrances are deliberately simple: recognisable, comforting, and never overpowering yet will fill the spaces available. And of course, being 100% soy wax, we don't have to use highly harmful acrolein - typically used in the process to convert paraffin black sludge into a white wax. Soy wax is naturally creamy and smooth - just the way we like it!

Packaging with Purpose

We believe packaging should be just as reflective of our philosophy as the candle itself. Every element — from our recyclable boxes and re-purposed shipping materials to our recyclable moulded glass jars — is chosen with sustainability in mind. We even design our product labels to be easy-peel, making it simple to re-use or re-purpose our jars at home for storage or display.

Farewell to Lids: A Small Change with Big Impact

As part of our mission to reduce waste and improve sustainability, we are transitioning away from hard-to-recycle candle lids and replacing them with biodegradable, recyclable dust covers.

These new dust covers are made from responsibly sourced, eco-friendly materials — designed to protect your candle while supporting a low-waste future. Not only are they better for the planet, but they also align with the mission to keep things simple and sustainable.

We know many of our customers love re-using our jars, and this small but intentional change makes that process even easier — with less waste and more possibilities for reuse.
